National Backhaul Connectivity


National/Backhaul Connectivity (NICTBB) is the National ICT Broadband Backbone which is managed and operated by the Tanzania Telecommunications Company Ltd (TTCL) on behalf of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, through the ministry of Communication Science and Technology (MCST) NICTBB helps to fulfill the increasing demands of information services, strengthen competitive abilities of domestic data and voice operators as well as bridging the digital divide.

  • It is capable to deliver high speed broadband and helps to efficiently exploit the          benefits of undersea submarine cables landing in Dar es Salaam by providing high          quality capacity fiber optic connectivity from Tanzania to within Africa and the          rest of the world.
  • We have also invested in this system to reach the neighboring countries with          countrywide Network coverage on microwave reaching end users on either          licensed or unlicensed frequencies.
  • We can deliver Capacity from E1 to STM-64 level to bordering countries
  • We have direct access to Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Zambia and Malawi.
  • It is transparent with clear channel links and has redundant SDA backbone in          selected towns.
