    Zantel customers to pay water bills through Ezypesa

    A move set to increase convenience in billings while increasing efficiency for the authority. Gone are the days when people had to move to the premises to pay for the water bills, thanks to the partnership between Zantel and Zanzibar Water Authority (Zawa) that will see customers paying bills easily via Ezypesa, a more digital way of payments.   The move is expected to simplify billings process offering more freedom to pay conveniently as opposed to traditional ways that are time consuming and costing thus improving service delivery.   Speaking during the launch, the ZAWA’s Director General, Mr. Mussa Ramadhan commended the step taken by the two counterparts stating that it will be of benefits towards improving service delivery to the customers while ensuring efficiency in bills collection.   “Our mission is to develop and provide potable, adequate and affordable water supply services to our customers, so with Ezypesa it will increase efficiency and speed in bills collections while reducing the burden of unnecessary movements since all can be done with your phone,” he said.   The solution is expected to speed up the efficiency in collection of income for the authority thus increasing its capacity in services provision including improvement of water infrastructures as well as widening its coverage within the Islands.   On his side, the Head of Zantel Zanzibar Mr. Khamis Mussa said the move is in line with the company’s strategy of making people’s lives easy through deploying reliable payment solutions revolving around Ezypesa to offer easy access to services and products.   “We are committed to improving people’s lives in every aspect of life through our Ezypesa platform that enables people to simply fulfil their daily needs. Our partnership with Zawa is another important milestone in ensuring that customers are able to pay their bills at their convenience,” marked Mussa.   He added “Contrary to the traditional ways, there is no need to move a long distance to have your bills cleared or wait until your water cut off for delayed bills, with your phone you can be rest assured with water services.”   Arguably water is one of the important natural resource in pushing forward both home-based and economic activities. Zanzibar Water Authority plays a great role managing of water supply services to more than 1,161,915 beneficiaries in the Island.   To pay your bill, dial *150*02# then selects 5 Payments then 7 Others then selects 3 Water Bills then ZAWA and proceeds to pay by entering the reference number, then the amount and lastly confirm. Then the customer will receive a notification message for the payment of made or placed.
